I grew up in the small town of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion. I went on to obtain my Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Creighton University School of Medicine in 2023. Loving my home roots and the people of Wyoming, I aimed to come back to the state and establish my career as a PA. Being able to care for this community has been such an honor and privilege.
The backbone of my medical philosophy rests on the value of “cura personalis” – meaning to take care of the entire person and caring for the individual needs. Medicine is not a one size fits all and I strive to listen to each patient’s individual needs in order to provide the best care possible.
In my spare time, I love being outdoors, hiking, camping, boating, and spending time with my husband and our two dogs. We have enjoyed returning to Wyoming after having lived in Nebraska and Arizona and planting roots back home in a community we cherish so much.

Dr. Gates and Montana were amazing. It was my first surgery and they helped me stay calm and assured me I was in good hands. Got into my consultation fast and then was on the surgery table within a week. Post op was great, they answered all my questions and made sure I was feeling good. All that and I didn’t even talk about the actual surgery yet. Started a little late but they kept me on track and got me in and out fast. It’s been two weeks and I feel great!
Dr. Kaan did such an amazing job on my gallbladder surgery! Recovery time has been an absolute breeze! Absolutely no complications whatsoever!!! His assistant Montana is just as amazing!!!! Both did an absolutely amazing job! Scars will be minimal! Absolutely pleased!!!! Thank you Dr Kaan for helping me!!!!

To put it plainly, Jesus and Dr Gates saved my life back in May, 2025 when I had to have emergency surgery and afterwards for my 2nd surgery as well. Dr Gates is a true expert at what he does and he's very personable too. I felt extreme ease in his care and he comes highly reccomended!! PA Montana is also a true gem. You couldn't ask for someone who genuinely cares for her patients the way she does! I REALLY adore her! I'm so happy my care came into the hands of Mountain West Surgical, they are A++++++++!!
